Baby Mei's humble reaction to the news that she has been nominated for an independent Spirit award for Best New Comer of '08 is a testament to her truly wonderful character. Despite the academy's continued refusal to recognize the integral part babies play in almost every movie, the independent community has rallied around. Baby Mei's portrayal of Elizabeth in "Modern Jane", a remake of Pride and Prejudice set in 2008 Brooklyn, was enough to move the audience from laughter, to tears, to roaring applause. The aplomb with which she delivered her lines and hit her cues made seasoned veterans like Dakota Fanning stare in pure awe. She handles the constant paparazzi and photographs like a pro, even though this is her first film debut. Congratulations Baby Mei, Welcome to the movie business.
